| Wis. man gets life in wife's poisoning
Mark Jensen trembled slightly as he was told he will never leave prison for suffocating his wife after poisoning her with antifreeze. "I've come to the conclusion that if I were to impose anything less than the maximum sentence in this case, I'd feel I had cheated the other people because your crime is so enormous, so monstrous, so unspeakably cruel, that it overcomes all other considerations," Judge Bruce Schroeder said Wednesday. Jensen, 48, was found guilty last week of first-degree intentional homicide, a crime that carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison. The judge could have stipulated that Jensen be eligible for parole. Schroeder decided against that option. Julie Jensen, 40, was found dead in her home in Pleasant Prairie on Dec.

Goldman ups writedown estimates for banks
GOLDMAN Sachs on Thursday raised its fourth-quarter estimates for billion-dollar asset writedowns at Citigroup, JP Morgan Chase and Merrill Lynch as a result of squeezed credit. Goldman Sachs said it expects the financial markets would not fully absorb the current credit crises initially stemming from a US housing slump until mid-2008. Rising foreclosures resulting from defaults on sub-prime mortgages - home loans given to people with poor credit histories - has tightened credit sharply since August. "Although we have seen many firms take the appropriate actions in recent weeks as they relate to write-downs and capital raises, we still believe it will be a couple of quarters before the current credit crisis is fully digested by the markets,'' the Wall Street investment bank said in a note to clients.

Asus’ 8.9″ Eee draws crowds at CeBIT
Here in CeBIT 2008, crowds descended on Hannover Germany to see the latest technologies. Germany is certainly a lovely country but there's nothing lovable about the 5.60 Euro per gallon gas prices. CeBIT is certainly one of the more unique conventions I've been to since everything is spread out over a square kilometer and it's like going to 10 mini conventions. While you get some outdoor air between the halls, don't expect any fresh air with all the smokers there. The temperature delta certainly makes proper attire a challenge because it's too warm inside and freezing outside. Asus had a massive presence in building 26 which is one of the more popular spots at CeBIT and they managed to draw crowds wanting to get a closer look at the new and improved 8.9″ Asus Eee PC.

Recently its Tanjong Club Spa made the list of Top Ten Overseas Hotel Spas, Asia category. It was also listed in the 100 Top Spas Worldwide in Conde Nast Traveller Readers' Spa Awards 2004. But the resort isn't just about luxury and pampering, it also offers glimpses of the best of Malaysia's wildlife, including monkeys, iguanas, river crabs and sea eagles. Feeling serene, we continued our drive to Primula Beach Resort, which is undergoing soon-to-be-completed renovations. The resort is located on the beachfront, very near the city center. Owned by the Malaysian government, the resort does not serve alcohol, in accordance with Islamic teaching. For recreation, the venue features a pleasant swimming pool and tennis court. Day 5 Early in the morning we set out for the countryside, where we visited the State Museum, considered one of the most comprehensive in Southeast Asia.
