You Gotta Sin To Get Saved and Other Assorted Love Songs.
There's some really promising albums coming out soon; it's better than the first signs of spring. Canadian folk-rocker Kathleen Edwards' new album “Asking For Flowers" is released March 4. I'm streaming it off her Web site as I write this and every song thus far is a winner. I got turned on to Edwards a couple of years ago when I was floored by her 2003 debut “Failer." The lead cut on that one, “Six O'clock News" was on constant repeat on the iPod. (That is before the stupid thing crashed something that's never happened with my turntable). Give Edwards a listen. I guarantee you'll end up scrapping all your horrid Carrie Underwood records. Leave those for the chumps. My buddy Rick Koster's bête noir Stephen Malkmus has a new album out called “Real Emotional Trash" with reportedly some prog flourishes.
Dion hints Liberals willing to let budget stand
Care to try and make your point without attacking his english (which is as good or better than Harper's french, IMO), his heritage, his physique, or other superficial and irrelevant things? Can you do it? Didn't think so. Don't feel too bad....neither can the CPC. Their attack ads are all sizzle and no steak. And pathetic, to boot. That's why your hero's party is basically in a tie with Dion's in the polls. That's why Harper will never get his majority. Thank goodness. Sneak a Peek at the Next Messenger for Vista Beta Release!
Messenger blog. Free SMS sending will also be included with the next release. Stop that slow typing on your phone for that 1,000 character message, youll be able to do it directly from the Yahoo! Messenger for Vista client! Based on feedback, another option to be added for certain is the Yahoo! Mail alert system that was nowhere to be found in the original release. Unfortunately, there isnt a date available for the next Beta version to be rolled out, Jacobson wrote, so all the above are just chimeras to dream of. Im not using Vista myself, but if all of the above indeed find their way into the release, Im seriously considering switching to it just for them. .
Wild Card -- Weekend
And the special effects? Wow! If you're into "Jurassic Park" meets the monkey king who gets the blonde and then dies trying to protect her, this one's for you. The action simply doesn't stop (although my wife complained that parts of it were too "Jurassic Park," like the scene where Kong kills three T-rexes trying to eat the screamer. I might see "Harry Potter" to round out my sci-fi/fantasy three-bagger this Christmas. Then, time's running down on the vacation. Speaking of which, I'd better deal you another Wild Card. Four more days ... .
Only 3 more days ...
I also used the song "Oh Holy Night" on my answering machine as background music. It is my God given right afterall to express my opinion and I do not have to eliminate the use of God or religion for fear of offending someone. If they are offended, perhaps they should seek the help of the ACLU or talk to some of the idiots from Planet Hollyweird. Deborah McKown Florissant, CO .
Recession-proofing your career
Far less intense and time-consuming than an MBA program is the in-house training that many employers offer in the latest computer software programs, as well as management techniques. In signing up for such training, you win not only if you stay but also if you have to go. Update skills Even if your employer won't pay for updating your skills, do it yourself -- and look at it as a career investment. Elana Zolfo, vice president of corporate programs and continuing education at Dowling College, says she is getting more questions from people she meets at business events regarding what skills they are wise to brush up on in an iffy economy. Among the most popular short-term classes at Dowling, she says, are business writing, marketing, time management, speaking/presentation skills and customer service.
The new science of Obamology
During the Cold War it was crucial to understand the intentions of the Soviet government. This task was complicated by the obsessive secrecy and a lack of objective media in the Soviet Union. One response to this challenge was the creation of a unique field of study: Kremlinology. Sifting through slogans and talking points, Kremlinologists would make educated guesses about the plans of Soviet leaders. In the current presidential campaign, will it be necessary for American voters to develop Obamology skills? Sen. Barack Obama has taken center stage with his engaging personality and stirring rhetoric, but is remarkably coy about the specifics of his agenda. His campaign has posted a lengthy policy statement on its Web site, but it conceals as much as it reveals about the senator's political philosophy.

Barry Bonds' grand jury transcript unsealed
The documents, many with Bonds' name or initials on them, are dated from 2001 through 2003. Prosecutors queried Bonds closely about them, but he denied using the drugs and said he had never seen the documents before. Steroid screen results At one point, prosecutor Jeff Nedrow showed Bonds the results of a steroid screen ordered in November 2000 by BALCO's founder, Victor Conte. Nedrow said the tested urine sample belonged to Bonds, and he noted that the report showed Bonds had elevated levels for the injectable steroid nadrolone and for methenolone, a steroid available in both injectable and oral form. "I got to ask, Mr. Bonds," the prosecutor said. "There's this number on a document with your name ... and it does have these two listed anabolic steroids as testing positive in connection with it.

HP Launches Program Promoting Cultural and Environmental Awareness ...
Despite the news-making circumstances of today's world and the media's attention to global issues, studies show that young adults in the United States and abroad have little knowledge of geography and other cultures. According to a recent National Geographic-Roper survey, three out of 10 young adults surveyed worldwide were unable to locate the Pacific Ocean on a world map. Eighty-three percent of young Americans could not find Afghanistan. Through the HP Digital Cultural Exchange program, HP is inviting a dozen schools from the United States, Argentina, Australia, Canada, the Czech Republic, India, Lebanon and Senegal to come together to learn about each other's countries, customs and cultures through an exchange of photo essays. The photo essays will be shared online during the program, which will culminate with a live exhibit at the American Museum of Natural History in May.
